Purpose People who access health services often have a range of needs that require the involvement of members from a multidisciplinary team. Teaching future health professionals about the importance of a multidisciplinary approach can be challenging. The aim of this paper is to describe a project called Recovery Camp that enhanced multidisciplinary health education through experiential and immersive engagement with people experiencing mental illness.

Method Future health professionals and people with a lived experience of mental illness took part in Recovery Camp - an innovative five-day therapeutic recreation initiative in the Australian bush. Results are presented in a case study …

A key factor in the success of higher education institutions is their ability to appreciate student experience and integrate this awareness into the generation of institutional priorities (Poindexter 2006). Australian universities annually administer a number of surveys that are designed to collect data about the student experience. Universities receive detailed reports presenting the findings from these surveys. These reports are disseminated to faculties and schools and provide different insights and have varying degrees of significance to the multiple stakeholders. However, evidence suggests that the utilisation and informed strategic action in response to this valuable information is limited (Neumann 2000).

Abstract. Background. This paper describes the development and implementation of an intervention to facilitate teamwork between general practice and outside allied and community health services and providers. Methods. A review of organizational theory and a qualitative study of 9 practices was used to design an intervention which was applied in four Divisions of General Practice and 26 urban practices. Clinical record review and qualitative interviews with participants were used to determine the key lessons from its implementation. Results. Facilitating teamwork across organizational boundaries was very challenging. The quality of the relationship between professionals was of key importance. This was enabled …
