Finger Range Of Motion And Joint Circumferences In Rock Climbers, Katarzyna Raczynska, Bartosz Trybulec, Kamila Boczon, Paweł Jagielski

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background. Fingers of climbers are an area where operating forces reach the highest values, thus they are susceptible for overloading. The aim of this study was to determine what kind of morphological changes climbing causes in the anatomical structures of climbers’ fingers and whether these changes affect their function. Materials and methods. The study group consisted of 27 climbers and 26 non-climbers as a control group. Research consisted of an original questionnaire and measurements of the range of motion and circumferences of finger joints. Results. Limited finger flexion in all distal interphalangeal (DIP) and proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joints in the …

The Effectiveness Of Open Versus Closed Kinetic Chain Exercises On Pain, Function And Range Of Motion In Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis, Babatunde Olusola Adegoke, Arinola Olasumbo Sanya, Samuel Olusegun Ogunlade, Oladapo Michael Olagbegi

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background: The comparative efficacy of open and closed kinetic chain exercises (OKCE and CKCE) on the symptoms of osteoarthritis (OA) has not been exhaustively studied. To evaluate and compare the effectiveness of eight-week open OKCE and CKCE on pain, function and range of motion of patients with knee OA. Material and methods: ‪A quasi-experimental study involved twenty-nine consecutive patients with knee OA allocated to either OKCE or CKCE groups. Participants’ pain intensity (PI), functional score (FS), active range of motion AROM) and knee passive range of motion (PROM) were assessed using the visual analogue scale, the functional index questionnaire and …

Range Of Motion And Muscle Strength Deficits Of Patients With Total Hip Arthroplasty After Surgery, Aykut Özçadırcı, Ömür Çağlar, Gürsoy Coşkun Mar 2022

Range Of Motion And Muscle Strength Deficits Of Patients With Total Hip Arthroplasty After Surgery, Aykut Özçadırcı, Ömür Çağlar, Gürsoy Coşkun

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background: The aim of this study was to compare muscle strength and range of motion of the operated and unoperated side and to determine the relationship between the functional status and muscle strength and range of motion in patients with Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) 1–3 years after surgery. Material and methods: 5 0 patients with THA were assessed after surgery in this study. A universal goniometer was used to measure the range of motion (ROM). Muscle strength was measured by a hand-held dynamometer. The patients’ functional status was determined with the Oxford Hip Score. Results: The difference in hip abduction …
