Background and aims: Cerebral palsy (CP) is impaired development in movement and postural control due to brain damage during the fetal or early infancy stage of life. Poor control of the neck muscle affects the peripheral sensory input and central nervous signal output, inhibiting the pre-action feedback response and expected postural regulation, which might result in impaired postural stability of the head and trunk. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to conduct head and neck vertical stabilization training for teenage students with cerebral palsy, and to examine its balance effect. Background

Fifty-seven percent of children with cerebral palsy (CP) experience mental health symptoms including symptoms of anxiety and depression. Although CP is non progressive, secondary conditions can have progressive effects on an individuals’ functional abilities. Particularly, untreated mental health symptoms can negatively affect a child’s quality of life. Children with CP also experience fatigue, pain, poor physical activity, and sleep disturbances. The presence of these physiological symptoms, separate and in combination, may impact mental health; however, it has not been systematically examined. Identifying factors that contribute to mental health symptoms may prevent the maintenance of these issues into adulthood.

Background

This study aimed to investigate the association between motor capacity and motor performance in children with cerebral palsy (CP) aged 6–12 years with Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) levels I to III.

Methods

Forty-six children with CP (24 boys and 22 girls) classified as GMFCS levels Ⅰ, Ⅱ, or Ⅲ were included. Motor capacity was measured by the Gross motor function measure (GMFM), Pediatric balance scale (PBS), Timed up and go (TUG), and 6-min walk test (6MWT). Background: Task-dependent neurophysiological adaptations in people with cerebral palsy have been examined using various techniques such as functional magnetic resonance imaging, peripheral nerve stimulation in order to assess H-reflexes, and transcranial magnetic stimulation. This activity-dependent plasticity is hypothesized to improve specific gross motor function in individuals with cerebral palsy. Although these adaptations have been examined extensively, most studies examined tasks utilizing the upper limbs. Purpose: The purpose of this systematic review is to summarize and evaluate the most recently published research focusing on the effects of hippotherapy on postural control in children with cerebral palsy.
