College is a time where students are required to nourish themselves independently. Weight loss and weight maintenance can be difficult for many, as students are more likely to turn to external methods to lose weight, which are not successful and sustainable long term. Students may be more likely to turn to external mechanisms to lose weight because the have poor interoception awareness, which is the ability to make meaning and sense of hunger and fullness cues.
