Older adults are a rapidly growing population which house a subset of older athletes who regularly engage in sport competition. The physical health and risk factors of this competitive older athlete population have been largely overlooked by healthcare providers and researchers and are poorly understood. Older athletes exhibit distinctly different measures of physical performance which require unique thresholds to identify health-related risk factors. According to the Outdoor Industry Association (2020), about 3.4 million people across the United States went whitewater-rafting in 2019. The majority of the research on whitewater rafting has focused on guest injuries, with less attention on the whitewater raft guides, who have an arduous job and are at risk for shoulder, back, and hip injuries. In addition to these injuries, rafting guides also experience bilateral imbalances from utilizing a dominant guiding side. Midportion Achilles tendinopathy (AT) is a chronic, painful condition of the long tendon that attaches the triceps surae muscle group (the soleus, medial and lateral gastrocnemius muscles), which are the primary plantar flexor muscles, to the calcaneus bone. There is incomplete understanding of the underlying pathophysiology, pain, and role of plantar flexor function (strength and fatigability) in functional impairment in AT. Deficits in plantar flexor muscle function are assumed, but evidence is sparce and inconclusive. Urgency and frequency are common lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in women and are accompanied by substantial activity and participation restrictions. Medical management begins with ruling out organ pathologies, typically followed by fluid intake and timed voiding often combined with pharmacologic management, and may progress to nerve stimulation, botulinum injections, or surgery where indicated. Despite abundant management options for urgency and frequency predominant LUTS (UF-LUTS) and high financial burden, patients often experience only partial relief from medical treatments for LUTS. Vertical jump (VJ) is a strong determinant of explosive power in the trained and untrained population. There is agreement among the literature that vertical jump training can be improved through progression in specific training related to vertical jump. For example, plyometrics is a widely studied training method for increasing VJ, and has been generally accepted method for increasing VJ. Within the literature, training methods are continually being studied to improve athletic performance.
