The focus of this capstone project was to create a pediatric manual wheelchair skills group for the Vanderbilt Pediatric Seating & Mobility Clinic. Most current literature focuses on adult manual wheelchair mobility skills programs and this project seeks to contribute to the resources for the pediatric population. This was done through collaboration with stakeholders, review of manual wheelchair skills programs already developed, a literature review to identify skills needed for independent functional mobility and assessments of skills, and acquisition of manual wheelchair skills. This poster is part of the doctoral capstone project completed with Tucker's House, an agency whose mission is to create safer and more accessible homes and environments for children and young adults with disabilities. This project focused on creating an assessment tool for individuals with Down Syndrome to be used during the home assessment process. A social story was also created to explain the home assessment process in an age appropriate manner to children.

Doctoral capstone project completed with Tucker's House, a nonprofit organization that completes home assessments and modifications for families with children with disabilities to improve accessibility and independence for the children at home. The project included: completing home assessments and providing client-centered recommendations and researching grant opportunities for Tucker's House as well as the families benefitting from the services, current durable medical equipment options, and safety features that should be included in the home assessments, recommendations, and modifications.

Champ's Triathlon Training Program was created to provide an adaptive fitness opportunity to the community of Nashville, TN. This program was specifically targeting children 8 to 15 years old diagnosed with Down's Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy, Gross Motor Function Classification Scale levels I, II, and III. Champ's Triathlon Training Program was an extension of the Champ's Tri My Best Triathlon hosted by a team of therapists and Vanderbilt's Pediatric Clinic, including Kelley Newman. The program aimed to increase the participants' strength, flexibility, and endurance through triathlon related activities such as running/walking, swimming, and biking.
