This study sought to find a relationship between students’ university grade point average and physical therapy treatment compliance. While other researchers have shown how important compliance is and have investigated factors that affect compliance and GPA separately, no one has studied how GPA and physical therapy treatment compliance are related. We investigated how these two factors interacted and were influenced by other aspects in a population that had not received much attention in literature regarding treatment compliance. For my honors project, I created an alternative therapy program for children with special needs. Activities were designed to support children with varied needs such as children with autism, ADHD, or learning disabilities. The program utilizes the most successful factors from the fields of art therapy, wilderness therapy, special education, applied behavior analysis, and speech and language therapy the program to form age appropriate, educational, and fun art and wilderness opportunities.

Background: Exercise has long played a critical role in the recovery from athletic injuries. Of recent, concussion research has escalated creating new insights into the treatment of and rehabilitation from concussion syndromes. As part of the concussion research, multiple uses of the ImPACT tool have evolved to measure cognitive function. However, combining the variables of cognitive improvement as measured by the ImPACT protocol with aerobic and anaerobic exercise has not been investigated.
