The Impact Of Assertiveness And Religiosity On The Expression Of Dissent Among U.S. Immigrant Nigerian Workers, Peter Osiabia Azorji
The Impact Of Assertiveness And Religiosity On The Expression Of Dissent Among U.S. Immigrant Nigerian Workers, Peter Osiabia Azorji
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractScholars have studied dissent in general, but few have focused on the impact of cultural contexts and characteristics on dissent. Literature on the influence of cultural factors on expression of disagreement in organizations, by immigrant Nigerian workers in the US has not received adequate attention. There is therefore a compelling need to bridge this gap. This quantitative nonexperimental correlation study examined the impact of assertiveness and religiosity (variables that may be influenced by culture), on expression of minority dissent among Nigerian immigrant workers in the United States. The inquiry was based on two theoretical models: Bourhis et al.âs interactive acculturation …
Data Modeling Of Cognitive Structure In Physiotherapy Students Learning Gross Anatomy, William Allan Besselink
Data Modeling Of Cognitive Structure In Physiotherapy Students Learning Gross Anatomy, William Allan Besselink
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Cognitive structures that promote deep learning of gross anatomy are integral to musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice yet poorly understood. This quantitative, criterion-related validation study addressed two data modeling strategies (multidimensional scaling and Pathfinder networks) as a potential visual and quantitative representation of the cognitive structures of physiotherapy students learning gross anatomy. The study was grounded in the Adaptive Control of Thought-Rational theory of cognition. The research questions addressed the agreement (reliability, accuracy, and association) between student and expert cognitive structures and included the derived quantitative parameters as predictor variables in multiple regression to examine potential relationships with unit grades. An online …
Leader’S Relational Transparency And Team-Level Trust And Distrust, Jiri Krejci
Leader’S Relational Transparency And Team-Level Trust And Distrust, Jiri Krejci
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Team trust in teams of collaborative knowledge workers has been identified as one of the main mediators of team effectiveness, and one of the most important outcomes of effective team leadership. The purpose of this quantitative nonexperimental study was to explore the relationships among relational transparency as a component of authentic leader’s behavior, and the levels of affect-based trust and distrust, as well as the relationship between both outcomes in context of the process of their emergence in a team setting. A total of 176 knowledge workers from a commercial business contact database participated. The relationships between these variables were …
Expectation Setting As A Retention Strategy To Improve Military Veterans’ Transition Into Civilian Organizations, Sarah O. Bashorun
Expectation Setting As A Retention Strategy To Improve Military Veterans’ Transition Into Civilian Organizations, Sarah O. Bashorun
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Military veterans entering the civilian job market have experienced challenges adapting to the civilian work place culture, which poses undesirable retention rates. This qualitative study addressed the research gap in understanding contextually the lived experiences with setting expectations and its impact on veterans withdrawing from the organization from the perspectives of veterans, HR, and hiring managers. This study was based on the met expectation theory that posits that an employee’s incoming expectation needs to match their expectation while on the job to avoid withdrawal behaviors. To confirm the theory and address the purpose two research questions were used: (a) addressed …
Noncompetitive Subordinate Employees’ Descriptions Of Adaptive Performance Following An Internal Promotion, Yemisi Milledge
Noncompetitive Subordinate Employees’ Descriptions Of Adaptive Performance Following An Internal Promotion, Yemisi Milledge
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Employees’ views on internal promotions tend to influence outcomes such as support given to the promoted employee, employee organizational commitment, and employee job satisfaction. Research on the influence of internal promotions has focused primarily on the reactions of competitive non-promoted internal candidates and those of the promoted individuals. This qualitative study investigated how employees who did not compete for a promotion adapted to a coworker being promoted to become their supervisor and how the employees described the coworker’s adaptation to the promotion. A taxonomy of adaptive performance and generic qualitative research formed the conceptual frameworks, and the leader-member exchange theory …
Synthesized Grounded Theory Expansion Of The Quadruple Aim In Acute Care Nursing, O. Ann Ann Fuller
Synthesized Grounded Theory Expansion Of The Quadruple Aim In Acute Care Nursing, O. Ann Ann Fuller
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractConflation of moral and compassionate healthcare within the business model that is focused on customer service, disempowers, dehumanizes, and destabilizes nursing as well as the financial stability of healthcare. The purpose of this research was to determine nurses’ perceptions of how their work environment supported or contradicted a potential expansion of the quadruple aim. The quadruple aim was the primary conceptual framework for this research. The overarching research question was about how the environment of care supports professional nurses’ provision of high-quality person- centered care and bolsters meaningful and purposeful careers. The synthesized grounded theory methodology was used to collect …
Fairness, Emotional Intelligence, And Ethical Decision-Making In Customer Evaluations Of Providers, Tameka Austin
Fairness, Emotional Intelligence, And Ethical Decision-Making In Customer Evaluations Of Providers, Tameka Austin
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Customer satisfaction is a topic that organizations must focus on for the success and continued sustainability of their organizations. Emotional intelligence, fairness, and ethical decision-making are areas that businesses must address to identify how their businesses are impacted by the choices that customers make when working with corporations. The gig economy (short- or long-term project in which a contract worker is hired to perform a specific task or long-term consultant assignment) is an area that has not been addressed to a great extent by psychology researchers. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between emotional intelligence, ethical …
Neurodiversity And Workplace Social Capital Effects On Employee Attitudes And Intentions, Alice Edwards
Neurodiversity And Workplace Social Capital Effects On Employee Attitudes And Intentions, Alice Edwards
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Neurodivergent employees have higher turnover rates than their neurotypical peers, andmuch remains unknown about how to improve their workplace experience. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the relationships between neurodiversity and workplace social capital on job satisfaction and turnover intent. Social cognitive career theory (SCCT) informed the study design. Working adults (N = 1,243) in the United States recruited using convenience sampling and MTurk participated through an anonymous online survey. Data analysis was conducted using three-way ANOVA and mediation. Significant three-way interactions were found between gender, job classification, and likelihood of having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) …

Effect Of Human-Animal Interactions On Retail Employees’ Job Satisfaction And Job Performance, Michelle Elizabeth Davis
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Research has shown that companion animals can have a positive effect on people who suffer from mental and physical illnesses; however, few studies have considered the impact of human-animal interactions (HAIs) on employees in the work environment. This quantitative study investigated the effect of HAIs on 146 employees’ job satisfaction and job performance in three retail environments with a range of potential animal interactions: retail store with no animal presence (none), retail store with occasional animal presence (occasional), and retail store with persistent animal presence (constant). Retail employees’ job satisfaction and performance in each retail setting were assessed using the …
Merger And Acquisitions: Effects Of Cultural Adaptation On Burnout Over Time Among Middle Managers, Perian Nora Stavrum
Merger And Acquisitions: Effects Of Cultural Adaptation On Burnout Over Time Among Middle Managers, Perian Nora Stavrum
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Merger and acquisition (M&A) actions are common; however, research on cultural adaptation over time leading to burnout is scarce. The purpose of this quantitative, nonexperimental study was to evaluate the relationships between independent variables defined as organizational and group adjustment, and the criterion variables operationalized as emotional exhaustion and cynicism, and to determine if the adjustment factors and time interact, affecting burnout in middle managers working in a target organization of U.S.-based M&As. The theoretical framework used was organizational socialization, conceptualized as newcomer adaptation, suggesting that individuals must traverse through an adjustment period regardless of the context of the change. …
