Background: Oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a daily medication that can prevent HIV infection. PrEP may further support HIV prevention initiatives in Thailand, particularly as it becomes more accessible in the country’s government clinics and hospitals. While studies have explored perceptions of PrEP for at-risk people in Thailand, there has been limited investigation into Thai physicians’ opinions of and willingness to prescribe PrEP. Methods: Using convenience sampling, this cross-sectional study recruited 132 Thai physicians to complete an anonymous, online survey. Higher rates of HIV are seen within correctional systems across the United States. Georgia has one of the largest correctional populations in the country and HIV rates among prisoners are elevated when compared to the state as a whole. The purpose of this project was to evaluate the Pre-Release Planning Program of the Georgia Department of Corrections and to identify reentry needs unique to persons living with HIV. Abstract

Prison and jail inmates constitute a growing population at risk for HIV infection. Inmates are at high risk for HIV infection because of pre-incarceration drug use; 60% of prison and jail inmates reported using drugs regularly at some point in their lives and 27% to 41% of inmates have a history of injection drug use. The high concentration of drug users in correctional facilities offers unparalleled access to a population that is otherwise difficult to reach for public health surveillance and intervention.
