This is one of the greatest challenges facing health care systems throughout the world and it places long-term health and economic demands on health care systems as the population ages. The course will introduce the student to some basic theories in linear models but would mainly focus on applied linear model fitting, regression parameter estimation and hypothesis testing. The course will involve model selection, diagnosis and remedial techniques to correct for assumption violations. The students will learn how to apply SAS procedures PROC REG, PROC CORR, and PROC GLM and interpret the results of analysis. Students will be introduced key concepts of environmental epidemiology, toxicology, preparedness, disease management, prevention, and health promotion in occupational settings that both workers and the public are impacted. The course covers primary methods of pollutant exposure assessment, a basic understanding of environmental toxicology, health effects of chemical, biological, and physical agents in a variety of facilities from agricultural, to service industry, private sector to healthcare settings. Students will also be introduced to safety regulations in these settings.
