The Perpetuation Of Hiv Risk In Latinx Immigrations: A Cross-National Perspective, J. M. Aleman

Research indicates that migration is a social determinant of health that increases the risk of acquiring HIV. What is less understood, however, are the pathways through which immigration influences HIV risk. This study employed a cross-national perspective and utilized a social determinants of health framework to understand how structural factors, such as economic conditions and immigration policies and their enforcement, influence HIV risk among migrants. SUD/OUDs are often linked to co-occurring physical disorders and serious mental illness (SMI). Data derived from documentation of ICD-10 Z-codes can be leveraged to identify at-risk populations for targeted intervention. Research demonstrates that while medical care is a contributor to wellness, the SDOH serve an influential role in patient health outcomes. There is limited literature describing how to best educate practicing nurses about SDOH concepts. The purpose of this DNP project was to provide an educational intervention to increase inpatient staff nursing knowledge of the SDOH.
