Mental health has emerged as a major public health concern in recent times with several disparities and barriers related to adequate health service utilization. Different age groups experience diverse symptoms and face distinct barriers in accessing and utilizing healthcare. Policies like Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act were launched to improve insurance coverage and delivery of mental health services. Despite reductions in sepsis mortality, there remains a substantial morbidity burden among children who survive sepsis. Furthermore, the majority develop multiple organ ‘group has historically been analyzed as a single cohort. Using the Life After Pediatric Sepsis Evaluation (LAPSE) investigation database, we studied the association of new and progressive multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (NPMODS) with morbidity and mortality among children with septic shock. We hypothesized that NPMODS represents a distinct phenotype based on evolving organ dysfunction. There was evidence of an association but it did not reach the 0.05 level of significance. Background: Obesity is a preventable disease that has been associated with many adverse health outcomes. A possible factor that may influence adiposity development is food insecurity. Although several epidemiological studies have been conducted examining the association between food insecurity and adiposity among children and adults, results have been inconsistent. Objective: This cross-sectional study investigates the relationship between food insecurity and adiposity among children and adults using recent data from a representative sample of the US population. Stunting is the most common form of undernutrition globally and is a major public health concern. Child stunting has both short-term negative effects on children’s health and long-term negative effects on adult health and human capital. Zimbabwe has a high prevalence of stunting, 27% in 2015. With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, a need has emerged for psychological research on children’s understanding of infectious disease transmission. However, little existing research examines the link between children’s cognitive reasoning about illness and their subsequent behaviors regarding its transmissibility. This study will examine children’s conceptualizations of contagious illnesses such as COVID-19 and their subsequent contagion avoidance. A mixed methods approach will be used to establish the content of children’s conceptualizations of contagion and level of causal reasoning related to illness transmission. Human trafficking (HT) is a growing concern within the United States (U.S.) and internationally. With the alarming number of HT victims presenting for medical care, primary care providers (PCPs) are in a unique and privileged position to encounter HT victims within the healthcare system. Adolescents, in particular, are vulnerable to HT because of minimal life experiences, inadequate social support, and limited coping mechanisms (Ertl et al., 2020). Failure to recognize and intervene in cases involving HT victims who are minors is detrimental to the individual’s health, wellbeing, and safety.
