According to health care reports, more than 250,000 deaths annually are attributed to medical error, prompting interprofessional education (IPE) initiatives as one way to improve healthcare delivery. The problem is that little is known about the effect of simulation learning with standardized patients on occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) students’ attitudes toward IPE. Cognitive structures that promote deep learning of gross anatomy are integral to musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice yet poorly understood. This quantitative, criterion-related validation study addressed two data modeling strategies (multidimensional scaling and Pathfinder networks) as a potential visual and quantitative representation of the cognitive structures of physiotherapy students learning gross anatomy. The study was grounded in the Adaptive Control of Thought-Rational theory of cognition. The research questions addressed the agreement (reliability, accuracy, and association) between student and expert cognitive structures and included the derived quantitative parameters as predictor variables in multiple regression to examine potential relationships with unit grades. Older adults may need, or desire, caregiver and family involvement to avoid hospitalizations and institutionalizations. The caregivers of these older adults have the highest rates of burnout, injury, and turnover. Family-centered care (FCC) involves collaboration between healthcare practitioners, patients, family members, and caregivers. FCC is both established and effective in pediatric care settings. There is a paucity of evidence on how FCC is applied to older adult populations. Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a growing epidemic that affects more than 50% of the world's population. CHF is a preventable disease, but prevention requires a healthy lifestyle from a young age. Most patients already diagnosed with CHF receive advice and strict instructions for care to prevent further cardiac injury. This quantitative descriptive research study was designed to address walking and jogging as the best exercises for patients diagnosed with CHF and in patients diagnosed with other cardiac problems. Employees who develop and report nontraumatic acute low back pain that occurs while performing work duties, or shortly thereafter, are classified as having occupational isolated acute low back pain (OIALBP). The purpose of this project was to identify and implement an evidence- based time frame to refer occupational isolated acute low back pain patients (OIALBPPs) to physical therapy (PT) that returns them to full duty work (FDW) more quickly. Equine facilitated psychotherapy (EFP), a new field in psychology, is an alternative method of therapy that uses horses to facilitate therapeutic outcomes. There is minimal peer reviewed literature and few published studies examining efficacy. The conceptual lens of this study was grounded theory, as there is insufficient evidence of theoretical frame-works guiding equine assisted therapy.
