Nvestigation Of Dissolution And Dispersion Behavior Of Ritonavir From Amorphous Solid Dispersion, Nitprapa Siriwannakij Jan 2020

Nvestigation Of Dissolution And Dispersion Behavior Of Ritonavir From Amorphous Solid Dispersion, Nitprapa Siriwannakij

Theses and Dissertations

The aim of this study was to develop ritonavir amorphous solid dispersion (ASD) formulation, investigate its aqueous dissolution and dispersion behavior, and predict potential pharmacokinetic parameters by in-silico modeling. The binary/ternary ASDs of ritonavir with PVPVA or HPMCAS-MG in the absence or presence of surfactants were prepared by using the hot-melt extrusion method. The amount of ritonavir was fixed at 20 %w/w, while amount of polymer and surfactant in the formulation was varied. The film-casting technique was used to confirm the miscibility of drug and polymer in the absence and presence of surfactant in different formulations. PXRD and DSC analyze …

Correlating The Physicochemical Properties Of Magnesium Stearate With Tablet Dissolution And Lubrication, Julie L. Calahan Jan 2020

Correlating The Physicochemical Properties Of Magnesium Stearate With Tablet Dissolution And Lubrication, Julie L. Calahan

Theses and Dissertations--Pharmacy

Magnesium stearate (MgSt) is the most commonly used pharmaceutical excipient and is present in over half the tablet formulations on the market. In spite of its popularity as an effective lubricant, it has been repeatedly recognized that there is significant variability between MgSt samples, which can cause inconsistent lubrication between batches of MgSt. The hypothesis of this research is that the batch-to-batch variability in tablet lubrication and dissolution observed in tablet formulations containing different MgSt samples can be correlated with differences in MgSt physicochemical properties (fatty acid salt composition, crystal hydrate form, particle size and surface area). Developing correlations between …
