Oncology Nurses' Perceptions Of Self-Compassion: A Pilot Study, Miriam R. Lindell

Oncology nurses face extraordinary stressors in their work. If this stress becomes prolonged, these nurses are at risk for burnout and compassion fatigue. One effective way for nurses to manage stress is to care for themselves, body, mind, and spirit. The concept of self-compassion reflects a meaningful approach to self-care. This pilot study explored the perception'of self-compassion by hospital based oncology nurses. A convenience sample of 37 oncology nurses was surveyed using four demographic questions and the Self-Compassion Scale by Kristin Neff.
