Abstract

This paper describes a DNP project that was designed to address the issue of rural mental telehealth implementation barriers. One of the main barriers to rural telehealth programs has been a technical infrastructure incapable of adequately hosting the telehealth programs. PURPOSE: To examine parental satisfaction of a telehealth program aimed to improve the identification and diagnosis of pediatric ASD in Northwest Arkansas.

DESIGN/METHODS: caregivers referred to the Access for Autism clinic received a satisfaction survey regarding the telehealth practices the clinic employs. This 5-point Likert scale survey was designed to measure six different constructs associated with telehealth satisfaction: assurance, empathy, reliability, responsiveness, usability, and patient satisfaction

CONCLUSIONS: Telehealth is a suitable alternative to attending medical appointments. The key finding indicated that 40% of caregivers believed the level of care received to be equal in telehealth and in-person appointments.

Problem: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) are a leading cause of maternal morbidity, mortality, and postpartum readmission. Several evidence-based algorithms and protocols have been implemented in the inpatient setting to treat severe blood pressure and prevent complications. However, there remains an opportunity to improve the postpartum care transition and discharge education for patients with these conditions in an attempt to decrease 30-day postpartum hypertension readmissions.

When the Coronavirus pandemic reached the United States in March 2020, many healthcare services moved to telehealth delivery. For patients with cognitive impairment, the Mini Mental Status Examination (MMSE) moved from traditional face-to-face assessment to telehealth testing in one Vermont specialty clinic.
