Background: Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) individuals experience increased risks for health disparities and discrimination compared to non-LGBTQ individuals, yet there is limited research in southern populations. Purpose: The purpose of this scholarly project was to examine if LGBTQ individuals had increased health disparities compared to non-LGBTQ individuals in Davidson County, Tennessee (TN). Methods: A quasi-experimental design (N = 1,704) used the 2019 Nashville Community Health and Well-being Survey for analysis. Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a common disease prevalent in 10.5% of the US population about 34.2 million people and a disproportionate percentage of people of color. An EBP project for people with prediabetes was conducted in a faith-based based setting after institutional review board approval. The purpose of the project was to increase fruits and vegetable intake and increase physical activity in adults with prediabetes. How Providing Care For Individuals With Dementia Affects How A Caregiver Changes Their Lifestyle: A Focus On The Positives, Veronica Joy Vodola

Background/significance Caregivers of individuals with dementia (e.g. Alzheimer’s Disease) may change their day-to-day life, especially self-care, to meet the needs of the person with dementia, which can be detrimental to their health. Caregivers for individuals with dementia experience both primarily negative and primarily positive effects on physical and mental health through exposure to the effects of dementia. Caregivers often report substandard self-care practices and unpleasant impacts on mental health. Others report notable beneficial influences within different aspects of their life. The positive effects have not been widely researched in literature.
