PCOS is one of the most prominent female reproductive disorders and with that comes fears for women about their health and ability to safely bear children. Women diagnosed with a reproductive disorder commonly fear they won’t be able to reproduce. This is not the case for the majority of obese women, PCOS does increase the risk of developing gestational diabetes, hypertension, and preterm labor. All of these complications can negatively affect the outcome of her pregnancy, therefore the mom needs to be closely monitored and healthcare workers intervene when appropriate.
