There is currently a glaring gap in the existing knowledge to address individuals’ experiences while recovering from a proximal humeral fracture (PHF). The main objective of this dissertation was to understand better how recovery is perceived by individuals after PHF. This overarching objective aligned well with the broad conceptualization of the issue at hand as those provided by the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). Community Health Workers (CHWs) are individuals who are selected and trained to provide healthcare services in the community. To be effective, they need ongoing training opportunities to gain knowledge and skills to perform their tasks. This study used descriptive qualitative methods to explore how Animatrice de Santé Maternelle (ASM)-CHWs working in select regions of Rwanda gained and enhanced their knowledge and skills to support maternal and newborn health care. Canadian healthcare system is under immense economic pressure. In an attempt to resolve the problem, outpatient surgical services were offered to patients presenting with orthopaedic surgical complaints. An observational cohort study was carried out, comparing the conventional surgical setup to the newly designed high-efficiency setup that provided similar care, with a significantly lower operating cost. A total of 200 patients were enrolled in the study. Standardized and unstandardized questionnaires were used to evaluate pre-operative and post-operative patient data that reflected quality of life outcomes. Purpose: This research study intended to understand how a new model of palliative home care in Ontario, Canada called eShift aligned with the needs of caregivers who cared for a family member at the end-of-life.

Methods: A qualitative secondary analysis using a deductive content analysis of 14 caregiver interviews, three decision-maker interviews, and six home care agency documents collected in a three-year study and were analyzed using The Caregiver Policy Lens framework.

The purpose of this secondary data analysis study was to examine nurses’ perceptions about inter-professional collaboration (IPC), job satisfaction and patient safety climate and the possible relationship between them in a large tertiary care hospital in Ontario, Canada. The data used for this study came from a large quasi-experimental study to evaluate the impact of introducing a new model of IPC. D’Amour’s Inter-professional Collaboration, Hackman & Oldham’s Global Job Satisfaction, and Sexton’s Patient Safety Climate were the main instruments used in this study. Nurse practitioner (NP) roles within hospital teams are evolving worldwide. However, understanding of their practice within the context of interprofessional (IP) teamwork remains limited. This two-phase study undertaken within Ontario, Canada provides a new multi-perspective understanding of the value of NP practice within IP hospital teams. Constructivist grounded theory, a modification of the classic methodology, guided an interpretive approach based in exploration of process and meaning construction, privilege and power exposure, and juxtaposition with extant theory. The aim of this two-phased investigation was to enhance understanding of urinary incontinence (UI) knowledge translation (KT) to inform how UI management knowledge might be translated within in-home nursing practice and family caregiving. Although UI can be managed conservatively, it is a principal reason for the breakdown of family-care and care recipient admission to long-term care.
