Much has been written regarding the public health challenges facing the UAE, particularly the high levels of preventable non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, renal disease, and traffic related injuries. Committed to reversing this trend, the Government of the UAE have identified ‘Health for All’ as an important strategic priority in the ongoing development of the nation. The availability of an appropriately skilled workforce is a key consideration in the achievement of this aim.
