The Effects Of Music Therapy On Pediatric Patients With Congenital Heart Defects In The Pre And Postoperative Setting, Janelle Marie Choy
Nursing | Student Research Posters
Congenital heart defects is a prominent medical occurrence especially in pediatrics. These defects often require surgeries and extensive treatment plans. These treatment plans often include invasive surgeries and extensive treatment plans which can require long recovery times along with potential surgical complications. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy on pediatric patients with congenital heart defects in the pre and postoperative setting and how music therapy can be implemented in treatment plans to yield effective recovery results for these patients. This research is significant as elevated vital signs and preoperative anxiety are associated with an increased need …

How The Lockdown Of Covid-19 Influenced The Neurocognitive And Psychosocial Development Of Preschoolers, Kay Picson
Nursing | Student Research Posters
The COVID-19 pandemic instilled a new normal across the world. Businesses turned to take out services and faced financial struggle. Hospitals enacted a visitor policy, limiting contact with patients, their families, and their friends. Schools closed their classrooms and moved to online learning from home, isolating children from their teachers, peers, and an optimal learning environment.
The literature review consists of six articles pertaining to the influence of the COVID-19 lockdown on preschoolers neurocognitive and psychosocial development. Specifically, the influence of the lockdown on preschooler mental health, executive function, and social skills. According to the research, the results were differential, …

An Examination Of The Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Of Final-Year Nursing Students, Edah Anyango, Esther Adama, Janie Brown, Irene Ngune
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Background: One in four newly graduated registered nurses leave their employment positions within the first year. To reduce this attrition, nursing stakeholders could focus on the final year of nursing education because students at this stage make professional career plans, including their practice destination for the graduate year and their commitment to the profession. Previous studies provide evidence of nursing students' career preferences and specialty choices. However, there is a dearth of data that focuses on the students' career decision-making process. Aim: This study examined the self-efficacy or confidence of final-year nursing students in making career decisions and the factors …

The Future Of Nursing Leadership: Incorporating E-Learned Artificial Intelligence (Ai) Pathways With A Precautionary Focus On Patient-Centered-Care, Jamie Anne Marcus Dr., Bonnette Villalba Webb
FDLA Journal
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a data-driven mathematical process that incorporates machine-based-logic, usually in the form of algorithms. Education, training, and competencies are now conducted through virtual reality, robotics, simulation, and technology learning-based-platforms by healthcare organizations. This represents a significant change in the future of nursing practice. The adaptability of technology-based-learning platforms can impact the quality and efficiency of learning for some of the workforce population. Nurses' perception of technology and AI-driven nursing practice may vary based on generational orientation and can be a potential barrier to learning, practicing, and adaptability of this framework. The forging of well-trained resilient nurse leaders …

Quality Advancement in Nursing Education - Avancées en formation infirmière
Purpose: Nurses constitute the largest non-medical primary care workforce in Canada and play an integral role in promoting health equity and improving access, continuity of care, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes. In 2019, the Canadian Family Practice Nurses Association (CFPNA) published Canadian competencies unique to registered nurses (RNs) in primary care. However, primary care–focused content has not been well integrated into Canadian nursing curriculum, and additional education is required to enable nurses to enact these competencies in practice. To address this gap, the purpose of this paper was to identify post-licensure education programs available to nurses in primary care across …

The Perceptions And Experiences Of Nursing Students On Medical Assistance In Dying (Maid), Jennifer Isaac, Cydnee Seneviratne, Shelley Raffin Bouchal, Shane Sinclair
Quality Advancement in Nursing Education - Avancées en formation infirmière
Background: The recent legalization, in Canada, of medical assistance in dying (MAiD) places additional responsibility on undergraduate nursing educators to prepare their students for such encounters. Undergraduate students lack familiarity with death and dying, most of which takes place outside the home in health care institutions. How well these future providers identify and communicate with and care for these patients depends on their educational preparation. Educators, along with nursing regulatory bodies, require more research to prepare curriculum and policies, respectively.
Purpose: This study aimed to gain a better understanding of the experiences and perceptions of nursing students on MAiD, their …

Quality Advancement in Nursing Education - Avancées en formation infirmière
