Postpartum depression (PPD) is the most common pregnancy-related complication affecting over half-million mothers each year in the United States and only 50% of these women seek treatment or even receive a mental health evaluation (American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2015; Horowitz & Goodman, 2004). Failure to detect or diagnose PPD can have serious consequences for both mom and baby. Parkland Memorial Hospital (PMH) has many patients with diabetes under its care (Parkland Health & Hospital System, 2019a). Lewis et al. (2015) found that most patients with diabetes seeking care in a large urban ED lacked the basic diabetes survival knowledge needed to stay healthy. Poor diabetes control leads to complications and illness, which leads to repeat ED visits and inpatient admissions. A further literature review supported providing patients with additional diabetes education to reduce admissions.

Today's health care environment requires registered nurses to be prepared for an array of practice settings, providing care outside the hospital and directly in the community. There is increasing focus on wellness, prevention, access to care, and mental health services for an aging and more diverse population. To improve alignment of education with increasingly complex needs, donor-advised funding supported four prelicensure nursing schools to transform their curricula. Selected schools were guided through a curriculum redesign process emphasizing community and continuum of care. This innovation was consistent with meeting challenges to realize the Institute of Medicine's 2011 Future of Nursing recommendations.

Over the years, there has been an ever-increasing spotlight on the issue of bullying among adolescents. Nurses are another adult-figure, in addition to parents and teachers, that can help identify and address bullying if educated properly. The purpose of this study was to examine pediatric bullying education in Arkansas baccalaureate nursing programs. Through the use of a mixed-method approach, the newly created survey was to be completed by one faculty member from each of the 12 BSN programs in Arkansas (12 participants; 6 respondents). Background: Navigating through online education courses continues to be a struggle for some nursing students. At the same time, integrating technology into online courses can be difficult for nursing faculty.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess faculty technology integration practices, student attitudes about technology use, and generational differences related to faculty and student technology use.

Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional survey design was used to obtain data for this study.

Undergraduate nursing students have difficulty comprehending the relevance of research to their future as nurses. Working as an undergraduate research assistant may provide opportunities to develop an appreciation of research. The purpose of this study was to explore former undergraduate research assistants' perceptions of their experience and its effects on their practice as professional nurses. This study used a qualitative descriptive design. Seven former undergraduate research assistants were interviewed. Interview transcripts were analyzed for themes using content analysis. This chapter investigates how this process of reconfiguring the “social” plays out in the context of the Philippines’ labor export system and pervasive culture of emigration. Focusing on the case of Filipino nursing graduates seeking to work overseas, this chapter discusses how the success of the Philippines’ labor-brokering process relies on individuals who can take on the responsibility of transforming themselves, mainly through education and training, into desirable workers for future employers. Background: For many health care organizations, pressure injury (PI) prevention strategies have become a priority focus to improve patient outcomes and associated costs.

Problem: A rural community hospital located in the Eastern U.S. experienced an increase in hospital acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs), predominantly in the intensive care unit (ICU). In 2018, 17.4% of HAPIs occurred in the ICU.

Approach: Implementation of a Quality Improvement project in an adult ICU, providing education and on-going learning activities to nursing staff, and applying a standardized plan of care “bundle” for prevention interventions.

The goal was to reduce Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)-related Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infection (CLABSI) rates by introducing a just-in-time re-education toolkit for proper hemodialysis (HD) line care in adult Intensive Care Units (ICU).

CRRT requires specialized expertise delivered in the ICU setting with the support of HD nurses. Problem-solving when cartridges clot or clog requires ICU nurses to return the blood and notify HD to restart therapy.
