Influence Of Music Therapy On Adult Patients In An Outpatient Setting, Cathy Waldrop
MSN Research Projects
Patients requiring medical care frequently experience increased levels of anxiety. This increase in anxiety may be attributed to fear of the medical examination, procedures to be performed, or the findings. Music therapy was tested as a possible intervention to reduce anxiety. The focus of this quasi-experimental study was to examine the influence of music therapy on adult patients in an outpatient clinic. The purpose of this study was to compare responses in adult patients who received music therapy while awaiting medical treatment in an outpatient setting and those who did not. Martha Rogers' Unitary Human Beings served as the theoretical …
The Effects Of Two Teaching Methodologies On Knowledge Of Insulin Administration Practices In An Older Adult Group, Clara D.J. Pieh
The Effects Of Two Teaching Methodologies On Knowledge Of Insulin Administration Practices In An Older Adult Group, Clara D.J. Pieh
MSN Research Projects
Approximately 11 million people are affected with acute and chronic complications of diabetes. An estimated $20 billion is spent annually on the diagnosis and management of diabetes. Client adherence to self-care practice is essential to the control of diabetes. The self-care practice of injecting insulin is imperative for the management of both patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Teaching modalities which effectively increase patient knowledge about insulin administration need to be developed and implemented. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine whether individualized instructions or audiovisual instructions increased the knowledge of insulin administration practices in older …

Haemophilus Influenzae In Adults: An Analysis Of Incidence, Serotype, Biotype, Beta-Lactamase Production And Clinical Spectrum, Mildred Ramsey Norris
MSN Research Projects
A selective medium, chocolate agar with vancomycin, bacitracin, and clindamycin, was used to enhance the recovery of Haemophilus influenzae from adult patients. Cultures of the 634 respiratory specimens yielded 130 (20.5 percent) H. influenzae isolates, representing 93 patients. The serotype, biotype, and Beta-lactamase production of all isolates were determined. Of 103 distinct isolates, nine percent were serotypable and included serogroups a ,b ,d ,and e. Although biotypes I, II, III, V, and VI were represented, 81.5 percent of the isolates were in the II/III group. Twenty-six percent of the isolates were Beta-lactamase producers and, therefore, ampicillin resistant. The clinical characteristics …
