Purpose: The main purpose of this study was to review the number of calls of the rapid response team (RRT) and the potential change in cardiac arrest rates before and after education of the floor nurses concerning RRT.
Design: A quantitative study was completed using a retrospective chart review to observe the number of calls of the RRT as well as patient cardiac arrest rates after education of the floor nurses concerning the RRT. The purpose of this quantitative research project was to examine the efficacy of pre-simulation progressive muscle relaxation in decreasing the level of anxiety experienced by nursing students during simulation exercises. Simulation is an important teaching strategy in nursing education; it provides an arena in which to practice skills and decision-making without putting real patients in danger of any mistakes. Student anxiety is a challenge of the simulation teaching strategy, because it can make students feel unsuccessful.
