AbstractType1 diabetes affects over 1.6 million people living in the United States of which about 200,000 are children under the age of 20, with an increase of 1.9% per year between 2002–2015. The large number of children with type 1 diabetes was observed in the project’s practice setting. In addition to the physical health impact on children, this disease also has major personal, economic, and social impacts on children and their families.
