Visual perception, difficulty distinguishing objects, judging distance and determining color or contrast are common problems contributing to weight loss and nutritional decline in dementia clients. Mealtime burdens and challenges for individuals with dementia can be minimized or eliminated by some simple, inexpensive alterations in the physical environment that can profoundly influence how patients feel, behave, and function; as well as ease frustration and promote more independent functioning. Aim
This paper examines patient’s desire for prayer from their health care providers and looks at the difference in prayer frequency between religious and non-religious based hospitals.
Background
Continued debate surrounds this concept: How much spiritual care should be integrated into the medical field? Many theorists have included spirituality as an integral part to holistic care. Therefore healthcare providers should address prayer and spirituality.
Method

Nurses Of 2010: The Dichotomy Between Continuity Of Patient Care And Nursing Fatigue As Related To Shift Length, Christy Kurtz

Nursing shift lengths are widely debated, and the implications on both nurse and patient safety are quite large. This work seeks to present a current review of literature describing the current work schedules of nurses in comparison to the Institute of Medicine’s 2004 recommendations and both the positive and negative effects that these schedules have on nurses and their patients. Eleven studies from the past five years (2004-2009) are included, with particular emphasis on those studies that address the dispute between continuity of care and nursing fatigue.
