As the geriatric population grows rapidly, the importance of utilizing and understanding palliative services continues to rise. Although palliative and hospice care are included in different healthcare courses, misconceptions and lack of knowledge continue to serve as barriers to the utilization of palliative care. The purpose was to assess knowledge, improve palliative care education, and increase understanding of the perspectives of the interdisciplinary team involved in acute patient care. The purpose of this study was to educate registered nurses about healthy work environments and the importance the relationship of the environment has on nursing outcomes. The project was conducted online using Qualtrics survey software. Data was collected from November 11th, 2021, to December 4th, 2021. Registered nurses currently working in a southeast Kansas hospital participated by completing a two-part survey. The survey consisted of a pretest, an educational resource, and finished with a post-test identical to the pretest except for the demographic questions collected in the pre-test. Although recommended by current evidence-based literature, family presence during resuscitation (FPDR) continues to be inconsistently implemented in healthcare facilities. This study aimed to assess and understand nurses’ knowledge, perceptions, and advocacy of family presence during resuscitation in the emergency department. For this cross-sectional descriptive study, an anonymous electronic survey was administered via email to all nurses employed in the emergency department at a local healthcare facility. Hard copies of the survey were also distributed in-person. Data collection occurred over a three week period. The data were coded and entered into a computer software statistics program for analysis.
