Smoking tobacco usage and it’s related health problems are a significant problem addressing the health care industry. Clients depend on primary health care provides to help identify potential health problems and to assist them in improving their health. The family nurse practitioner is in an ideal position to screen for smoking, and to intervene with those clients found to be at risk, to promote wellness within their client populations. Even though there has been a significant decrease in the number of adults who smoke in recent years, adolescents are initiating the habit at an alarming rate. Cigarette smoking is the number one preventable cause of death and illness in the United States. The purpose of this quasi­ experiment al pretest/posttest study was to explore the knowledge levels and attitudes of college students in Northeast Mississippi regarding cigarette smoking. Violent injury is among the leading causes of death in adolescents. Adolescents' immaturity and underdeveloped impulse control put them at risk of acting rashly, thus at higher risk for violent injury. This significant public health problem is a preventive objective of Healthy People 2000. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of an educational intervention on adolescents' knowledge and attitudes about violence. The nurse practitioner in a school or family clinic is in a unique position to intervene with adolescent clients using an educational intervention. An Experimental Study: The Effects Of A Premenstrual Syndrome Intervention Program On Premenstrual Syndrome Symptoms, Lisa May Pullen

This experimental study was designed to compare the relief of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) symptoms of women between the ages of 18 to 40. The experimental group was asked to follow a nonmedical PMS Intervention Program one week prior to and during their menstrual cycle. The researcher hypothesized that there would be no significant difference in PMS symptoms between women who participated in the treatment and women who did not participate in the treatment. A researcher-designed survey which consisted of the Menstrual Symptomatology Fact Sheet (MSFS) and the Menstrual Symptomatology Questionnaire (MSQ) was administered to 35 women who reported PMS symptoms …
