The purpose of this report is to present the case of a 20-year-old female collegiate basketball player who was diagnosed with a combination of idiopathic and neuromuscular scoliosis. Patient underwent thoracic spinal fusion surgery when she was 15 to resolve her extreme scoliosis. The uniqueness of this case stems from the athlete’s urgency to have to undergo a life-altering spine operation and still be able to successfully contribute to a collegiate basketball team. Athletic trainers should be knowledgeable and aware of how to maintain treatment/rehabilitation for athletes with scoliosis, operative or non-operative. Scoliosis should no longer be a reason to …

The purpose of this case report is to present a twenty-year-old African American male with a complex ankle injury. During a collegiate football game, the athlete injured his left ankle, damaging his deltoid ligament complex, and lateral ankle complex, causing several bone bruises and tearing his peroneal retinaculum. With surgery being declined, standard rehabilitation protocols of POLICE for initial management of inflammation, strengthening, and ROM exercises were conducted. Manual therapies consisting of milking massage, scraping, and joint mobilizations were added to aid in pain and edema control. The foot's biomechanical role in walking on sloped surfaces is currently unclear. While previous biomechanics studies have examined the hip, knee, and ankle, the foot is oversimplified as a rigid-body segment. This oversimplification overshadows its complex structure and function. In this project, we use an innovative multi-segment foot model to explore how the foot adapts its mechanics to incline and decline walking. Preliminary results have revealed that the foot is capable of adapting its mechanical work profile to both incline and decline walking. To demonstrate cam impingement and recurrent cam deformity caused by femoroacetabular impingement after bilateral arthroscopic labral repair in a collegiate male soccer player. Cam impingement is caused by deformities of the femoral head. The deformity is generated due to overuse and high shear stress on the femoral head leading to restricted hip ROM by grinding the articular cartilage. A NCAA Division I baseball middle infielder complained of discomfort in his right upper extremity. He reported no specific mechanism of injury. He had a history of right elbow fracture at age eight with joint displacement. However, no other previous injury to his upper extremity was reported. He did not feel any pain or abnormal sensations while exercising, but noted some discomfort in the right arm, shoulder and pectoral muscles afterward. The evaluating athletic trainer also noted obvious swelling and discoloration of the right arm, bilaterally different temperature, decreased radial pulse, and positive Roo’s and Adson’s Tests.
