Jurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia

Introduction. The Socal and Hasford scores developed before the era of tirosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy to provide predictions and prognosis for the results of therapy for chronic myeloid leukemia patients (CML). Until now the superiority of Socal and Hasford scores is still debated in predicting the results of therapy in the era of TKI. Imatinib mesylat is a first line TKI in the treatment of CML. This study aims to determine the superior predictive score in predicting hematological and molecular response of patients treated with imatinib mesylate. Methods. A survey study was conducted with data taken retrospectively from medical …

Introduction. Hypoalbuminemia is a strong predictor of mortality in nonoperative and operative patients. Albumin plays a role in maintaining oncotic pressure in critical conditions such as sepsis. The administration of exogenous Human Serum Albumin (HSA) in sepsis with hypoalbuminemia conditions is still controversial with varying outcomes. This study aimed to know the mortality ratio between intravenous albumin administration and no intravenous albumin administration in sepsis patients with hypoalbuminemia conditions and also to know the factors that influence the mortality of sepsis patients. Methods. An observational study with a prospective approach involving 75 research subjects aged >18 years with sepsis accompanied by …

Prediksi Respons Terapi Leukemia Granulositik Kronis: Skor Mana Yang Lebih Baik?, Nadia Ayu Mulansari

Jurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia

Introduction. Breast cancer is the most prominent cancer and causing death in women. Treatment of breast cancer requires immunohistochemistry (IHC) to determine prognostic and predictive and imaging tests to determine staging. However, currently in Indonesia only 17 hospital can conduct IHC test. RSUD Kota Bogor like other Type B Hospital have no IHC test facilities. To fullfil that test, its important to refer patient to referal hospital. Because of limitation there are patients who did not do IHC test and continued get anthracycline chemotherapy. Introduction. Sarcopenia is defined as a declined in skeletal muscle mass and strength along with its function may causes an increase in hospitalization, mortality, and health burden. Multi-factorial conditions of the aging process may cause sarcopenia. To assess those multi-factorial conditions in the elderly, a comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) method should be used, in which comprises of socio-demographic, medical, psychological, and functional domains. This research aims to analyze the components of CGA, including age, gender, nutritional status, mental status, and functional status as factors associated to sarcopenia in the elderly community in Surabaya. Jurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia

Urinary tract infection (UTI), especially recurrent UTI, is a common problem, occurring in >75% of kidney transplant recipients. Urinary tract infection (UTI) can reduce the quality of life, graft potential, and patient survival. Urosepsis with impairment of graft function is potential long-term sequelae of recurrent UTI in kidney transplantation recipients. We present a case of UTI that developed within a month after renal transplant. The patient got a urinary tract infection repeatedly. We suspect lack of hygiene as the cause of urinary tract infection, the patient was rarely cleaning-up, took a bath, changing clothes, and did not wash after urinating. …

Polycythemia is a case that still raises questions and dilemma for doctors. In this paper, it will be discussed about the diagnostic approach and management of polycythemia. The initial complaints of polycythemia are generally nonspecific, such as weakness and dizziness due to blood hyperviscosity. It is also essential to know accompanying diseases, routine medications, habits, and family histories of the patients. Patients with polycythemia commonly exhibit plethora. In vital sign examination, hypertension can be found in polycythemia vera. In …

Jurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia

Introduction. In patient with stable coronary artery disease (CAD), severity of stenosis is closely related to prognosis. It is known that several clinical parameters and recently-developed strain echocardiography can predict severity of stenosis. Assessment of clinical parameters, altogether with strain echocardiography is expected to make better prediction. This study aim to determine whether clinical factors, i.e. age, sex, diabetes, typical angina, and history of myocardial infarction, and strain echocardiography parameter, i.e. global longitudinal strain (GLS), can predict severity of coronary artery stenosis measured with Gensini score, and to further develop a prediction model based on significant parameters. Methods. This is a …

Lymphocytes can describe host immunity, while neutrophils and monocytes can describe the inflammatory response. No study has assessed differential count of leukocytes as a predictor of the first onset acute neutropenia after R-CHOP chemotherapy in DLBCL patients. This study aimed to determine the relationship between differential count of leukocytes before chemotherapy as a predictor of the first onset acute neutropenia after R-CHOP chemotherapy in DLBCL patients. Jurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia

Wegener’s granulomatosis is a vasculitis that affects small to medium blood vessels, generally occurring at the age of 64- 75 years with an incidence of 8-10 / 1,000,000 people. Meningoencephalitis manifestations are rarely found in Wegener’s granulomatosis with the incidence only in the range of 0-7%. Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) is often used in diagnosing Wegener’s granulomatosis, but negative ANCA can be found in 10-20% of cases. A 30-year-old man came with a decrease in consciousness. His anamnesis and physical examination showed signs that led to Wegener’s granulomatosis, despite negative ANCA examination results. After getting therapy according to the management …

Introduction. Silicosis is a disease that most often occurred as a result of silica dust exposure. Silica dust particles will stimulate alveolar macrophages to secrete proinflammatory mediators for fibroblast proliferation and collagen deposition. TGF-ß1 is one of the most extensively involved mediators in the development of fibrosis. To date, several studies have not shown consistent results regarding the association between silica dust exposure and TGF-β1. This study examined silica dust exposure and serum TGF-β1, which aims to determine the risk of silicosis in stone quarry workers. Methods. An analytic cross-sectional study was conducted at Company X, Karangasem in March 2016. …
