Developing interdisciplinary teamwork and patient communication skills are essential for the student registered nurse anesthetist (SRNA) to provide quality patient care when administering epidural anesthesia. The synthesis of the evidence revealed limited available information on simulation use for SRNA epidural administration and collaboration. This doctoral project examined the effectiveness of learning through traditional simulation to enhance communication and collaboration between the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and the Nurse Anesthesia Program (NAP) students. At The University of Southern Mississippi’s (USM) Nurse Anesthesia Program (NAP), no standardized clinical evaluation for video laryngoscopy (VL) use exists. To address the gap in standardized evaluation of VL, an evidence-based, objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) will be developed and proposed to the USM NAP. The intervention to this need is the evaluation of the OSCE and supporting documents by the panel of experts. Intrapartum nurses’ beliefs influence nursing behavior and nursing interventions during labor and birth. Assessing these beliefs in a regional hospital in the Southeastern United States was the focus of the doctoral project. Before the project, there was no objective data that assessed individual nurse’s beliefs and birth practices in the labor and delivery unit, or among the nursing staff as a whole. A knowledge gap existed in understanding if the nursing culture valued, promoted, and supported intended vaginal birth. Background: Primary care providers are increasingly challenged with managing individuals with behavioral health needs. Evidence suggests that integrating behavioral health services into primary care can improve individual health outcomes and can improve access to behavioral health services.

Objectives: The purpose of this project is to evaluate key outcomes following the evidencebased integration of behavioral health services into a primary care practice.

It is also an independent risk factor for coronary events, heart failure, stroke, and end-stage renal disease contributing to 410,624 United States (U.S.) deaths in 2014. The American Heart Association (2016) has released the Measure Accurately, Act Rapidly, and Partner with Patient (MAP) protocol in order to address this issue. Depression is one of the most common chronic conditions in the world. Despite this, depression continues to be under-screened, inaccurately assessed and diagnosed, and poorly treated in outpatient settings. Many providers solely rely on clinical judgement instead of a screening tool or evidence-based toolkit when a patient presents with depression symptoms, resulting in underdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment. Utilization of resources can help a provider appropriately screen, diagnose and treat an individual with depression. Background and Objectives: Home palliative care services are challenging to bill due to the complexity of services and competing time demands. Objectives and protocol were developed to guide coding and billing to increase Relative Value Unit generation and improve financial sustainability.

Design: A quality improvement project.

Setting: A home-based palliative care program in one health system in the Midwest.

Participants: Participants included 7 nurse practitioners.

Intervention: Coding protocol were developed, providers were educated, electronic health record audits were conducted to collect data on improvement, and feedback provided to prompt improvement.
