Background: Surgical services are an important source of revenue and important economic driver of hospital systems. Surgical services account for approximately 42% of a hospital’s annual revenue, however, it also constitutes 40% of facility operating costs (Gupta, et al., 2022 & Morel & Gomez, 2021). Despite the high costs associated with surgical services delays remain a significant issue across the nation.
