Background: COVID-19 patients usually present multiple comorbidities and complications associated with severe forms of SARS-CoV-2 infection. This study aimed to assess the risk factors and prevalence of comorbidities and complications contributing to the severity of COVID-19.

Methods: This meta-analysis was performed according to PRISMA guidelines. We searched various databases, including PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus (between 2020 and 2023), for eligible studies for this meta-analysis.

Results: Thirty-three studies were eligible, including 85812 patients, of which 36% (30634/85812) had severe disease, whereas 64% (55178/85812) had non-severe disease. Severe cases were potentially correlated with the following factors: gender (male) (odd ratio (OR) …

Background/aim: To present the incidence of recurrent lumbar disc herniation (RLDH) and to identify radiological and patient-related risk factors that lead to recurrence after lumbar disc herniation (LDH) treatment with microdiscectomy. Background/aim: To evaluate the incidence, clinical features, risk factors, and prognosis of central nervous system (CNS) involvement in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Materials and methods: All AML patients who were admitted to Hacettepe University hospital between 2000 and 2021 were evaluated. The medical records of 548 AML cases were retrospectively analyzed. Results: The frequency of CNS involvement was 2.4% (n = 13) at diagnosis and 4.6% (n = 25) at diagnosis or during follow-up. Background/aim: Colistin is gaining popularity against multidrug-resistant bacteria. The primary concern with colistin is its nephrotoxicity (NT). The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence and risk factors for NT and to evaluate the risk factors for mortality in the toxicity group. The aim of this paper was to determine the prevalence and risk factors for nosocomial infections in one Serbian hospital. Materials and methods: Three-point prevalence surveys were conducted in the Clinical Center of Kragujevac (1240 beds). To evaluate the seasonal variations and risk factors associated with surgical site infection (SSI) rate in Kano. Materials and methods: A total of 5800 patients admitted for surgery, drawn from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, underwent different types of surgical procedures between January 2010 and December 2011. Out of those patients, 1463 confirmed infected cases were screened for bacterial and fungal infection by standard microbiological procedures. In this study we aimed to find out seroprevalences and associated risk factors of hepatitis B and C in adults in Düzce. To analyze the frequency and distribution of coronary artery risk factors in the city of Rize and its surrounding areas. Materials and methods: This observational study included 452 patients (333 men, 119 women). In addition to demographic characteristics of the patients, conventional risk factors were also recorded.
