Background/aim: Intravesical BCG treatment fails inexplicably in 30%-45% of patients for high-grade nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). We aimed to investigate the role of PD-1/PD-L1 interaction on BCG failure of high-grade NMIBC and to identify biomarkers for predicting BCG responsive cases. Materials and methods: Thirty BCG responsive and 29 nonresponsive NMIBCs were included in the study. Expressions of PDL1(SP-263), MSH2, MSH6, PMS2, and MLH1 were evaluated on pre- and post-BCG transurethral resection (TUR-B) specimens by immunohistochemistry. Background/aim: Programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) is a predictive marker for immunotherapeutic agents. However, heterogeneous staining of PD-L1 can cause false-negative results. The aim of this study is to evaluate the importance of histological patterns on PD-L1 staining heterogeneity in lung adenocarcinomas (LAC). Materials and methods: PD-L1 immunohistochemistry (IHC) stain was performed to two different tissue cores of 128 LAC cases, and cut-off values are given for grouping the cases according to the percentage of staining (1%-10%, 11%-49%, 50%-100%). Breakthroughs in immunotherapy have led to cancer therapeutics that activate the immune system by blocking inhibitory mechanisms. This class of therapeutics has resulted in longer survival rates for cancer patients, some living over 10 years after being diagnosed as terminally ill. However, only a small fraction of patients who receive immunotherapy drugs respond favorably.Recent studies suggest that certain anticancer agents (both cytotoxic chemotherapeutics and targeted drugs) stimulate immune recognition of cancers. To investigate the necessity and efficacy of immunotherapy in children with allergic eye disease. Materials and methods: The study included 57 patients with allergic eye disease who were followed by the Department of Ophthalmology and Department of Pediatrics at Adnan Menderes University Hospital. Blood and skin prick tests were carried out on 43 patients. Results: There were 38 male and 19 female patients with a mean age of 11 ± 4 years. The mean follow-up was 31 ± 3 months and 28 ± 4 months in 38 vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) and 19 perennial allergic conjunctivitis (PAC) patients, respectively. Immunotherapy was …
