Konsep Diagnosis Dan Penatalaksanaan Fraktur Osteoporosis Terkini, I Gusti Ngurah Wien Aryana, Febyan Febyan

Jurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia

Osteoporosis is a metabolic bone disease that is caused by a decreased amount of bone mass, and microarchitectural damage to bone tissue that affects the bone to break easily. Osteoporosis can be divided into primary and secondary etiologies. Vertebral, hip, distal radius, and proximal humerus are the most common predilection of fracture complication due to osteoporosis. The diagnosis of osteoporotic fractures is established based on the identification of risk factors, general clinical manifestations, specific manifestation from each fracture predilection, and advanced examinations, including radiology imaging and dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry. The purpose of osteoporotic fractures management in elderly is a stable …

Makara Journal of Science

The salivary α-amylase (sAA) concentration has a potential role as a biological indicator of occupational fatigue. This study aimed to determine the levels of sAA and its influencing factors. This research used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 40 office staff respondents at PT. X (Persero). Mental workload (MWL), sleep quality, and occupational fatigue were measured using the NASA-Total Load Index (TLX), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and Industrial Fatigue Research Committee, respectively. Meanwhile, the basic sAA levels was measured through the sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method using the Bioenzy® Kit Assay. Descriptive analysis showed that the workers were mostly …

Effect Of Calorie Restriction On The Expression Of Sirtuin1 As An Antiaging Biomarker, Raya Makarim Penantian, Radiana Dhewayani Antarianto, Novi Silvia Hardiany

Makara Journal of Science

Calorie restriction (CR) is the most effective method for delaying aging and preventing the onset of age-related diseases. Sirtuins constitute a family of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)-dependent histone deacetylases. Their activity can be regulated by NAD+/NADH levels, which are influenced by nutrient intake, a variable acted upon by CR. This review elaborates on the link between CR and sirtuin1 (SIRT1). It retrieved articles from several sources, such as ClinicalKey, PubMed, and ScienceDirect. It discusses the up-to-date knowledge of how SIRT1 acts as a nutrient sensor and regulator of molecular mechanisms. These mechanisms include the control of the cell …

Penggunaan Whole Body Vibration Training Pada Kasus Chronic Ankle Instability Terhadap Peningkatan Keseimbangan Pada Atlet: Studi Literatur, Aditya Denny Pratama, Muhamad Nabiel

Jurnal Vokasi Indonesia

Jurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia

Introduction. Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) which in 2020 was declared a global pandemic. In the management of COVID-19, patients are classified according to the severity. Identifying prognostic factors at an early stage helps assess severity risks. Abnormal hematological parameters were present in COVID-19 patients such as the elevation of neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and D-dimer patients. This study aimed to determine the NLR and D-dimer levels based on the severity of COVID-19 patients.

Methods. This study was an observational analytical study that used a case-control approach using 100 medical records of …

Peran Penting Inflamasom Nlrp3 Pada Aterosklerosis, Dewi Sukmawati Jun 2023

Peran Penting Inflamasom Nlrp3 Pada Aterosklerosis, Dewi Sukmawati

Jurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) still contribute as the main cause of mortality and premature mortality worldwide. In Indonesia, CVDs contribute to 35% of the main cause of death in non-communicable diseases followed by diabetes at 6%. The ischemic heart disease and acute ischemic stroke is the main cause of death in Indonesia due to atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial cause, with chronic inflammation which causes myocardial infarction and acute ischemic stroke. Research demonstrated that one of the underlying mechanisms of atherosclerosis is inflammation. The current research suggested that inflammation could activate a complex of cytosol proteins, namely nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor …

The New Ropanasuri Journal of Surgery

Introduction. Chest tube placement is widely practiced; most medical doctors can do this safely. However, releasing the chest tube can be a painful and challenging experience for the patient. A novel method has been developed with a new suture material that does not need to be knotted. The Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS) provides objective and subjective scar assessment. This study aimed to compare the scars associated with chest tube release between the conventional and knotless methods.

Methods. The study was a controlled trial in which patients were divided into two groups. The scar assessment was …

Background: Natural killer (NK) cells originate from the differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in the common lymphoid progenitor pathway, and HSCs can be obtained from umbilical cord blood (UCB). Comparative studies of NK cell differentiation between cultured and freshly isolated HSCs are important in the development of NK cell therapy for cancer. This study aimed to compare the maturation stages of NK cell differentiation between cultured and newly isolated HSC samples using interleukin-2 in the absence of feeder cells.

Methods: Differentiation cultures were divided into two groups according to HSC source. Giemsa staining and flow cytometry were …

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

Image representation via machine learning is an approach to quantitatively represent histopathological images of head and neck tumors for future applications of artificial intelligence-assisted pathological diagnosis systems. Objective: This study compares image representations produced by a pre-trained convolutional neural network (VGG16) to those produced by a vision transformer (ViT-L/14) in terms of the classification performance of head and neck tumors. Methods: W hole-slide images of five oral t umor categories (n = 319 cases) were analyzed. Image patches were created from manually annotated regions at 4096, 2048, and 1024 pixels and rescaled to 256 pixels. Image representations were …

Syndrome Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus-2 (SARS COV2) is the virus that causes the COVID19 disease and has caused more than 4 million deaths worldwide. This virus infects the host cell through the interaction between the virus’s glycoprotein S molecule with the ACE2 which is the virus receptor, binding, undergoes membrane fusion and enters the cell and replicates in it. Currently, several strategies used in developing anti-viral compounds are targeting compounds that play a role in the process of entering the virus into host cells such as ACE2, S glycoprotein, and TMPRSS2, while some target main proteases such as RNA …
