Reducing Test-Taking Anxiety In Transitional Associate Degree Nursing Students, Diane L. Hare

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Test-taking anxiety causes physical, emotional, and psychological harm that can influence the results of the test takers' performance on an examination (Fletcher, 2022). Reducing test anxiety in nursing students can increase the number of students achieving success in nursing programs, therefore increasing the number of nurses entering the workforce. The United States estimates there will be a shortage of 12.9 million nurses by 2035 (Tamata & Mohammadnezhad, 2022). The aim of the quality improvement project was to reduce test-taking anxiety in nursing students with relaxation techniques. A convenience sample of forty-six students was chosen. The students attended three educational sessions …

Communication deficiencies were identified among baccalaureate nursing students at South College in Nashville, TN, necessitating changes needing to be made in the nursing curricula. To address the flaws, the quality improvement project proposed implementing changes in clinical assignments during clinical rotations in medical-surgical nursing courses. The project manager discussed the purpose and usage of the SBAR tool, and the students then demonstrated the use of the tool. The clinical faculty rated the students using an eight-question Likert survey to assess the students’ confidence and competency three times; the first assessment at the end of the shift without guidance from their …

Background The high rates of recidivism in the juvenile court systems matched with the increased prevalence of psychological trauma in justice-involved youth represent the need for implementing trauma informed care. The scoping review analyzed the research implementing the intervention of trauma informed care to determine if it resulted …

There is an estimated 98,000 to 400,000 hospital errors that result in patient harm or death annually (David, Gunnarsson, Waters, Horblyuk and Kaplan, 2013; James 2013). As a member of the health care team nurses coordinate and provide continual care to the hospitalized patient (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2011; Parker, 2014). Patient safety is promoted when nurses are competent in their knowledge, skills, attitude, and performance related to evidence-based practice, protocols, and standards of care (; American Nurses Association, n.d; Schroeter, 2009). The purpose of this evidence-based project was to promote patent safety by developing and maintaining competency …

The need to enhance the knowledge and skills of nurses caring for patients who exhibit signs of clinical deterioration has been validated in the literature. The literature has further supported the registered nurse as the key individual expected to recognize signs of clinical deterioration in the patient. The use of simulation as an effective teaching strategy has been well documented in the literature. The purpose of the project was to use simulation as an educational intervention to increase nurse knowledge, self-confidence, and competency when caring for patients exhibiting signs of clinical deterioration. The findings of this project are supported by …
