Introduction Multi-source feedback (MSF) is an evaluation method mandated by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The Queen's Simulation Assessment Tool (QSAT) has been validated as being able to distinguish between resident performances in a simulation setting. The QSAT has also been demonstrated to have excellent MSF agreement when used in an adult simulation performed in a simulation lab. Using the QSAT, this study sought to determine the degree of agreement of MSF in a single pediatric (Peds) simulation case conducted in situ in a Peds emergency department (ED). Methods This Institutional Review Board-approved study was conducted in …

Effectiveness Of High-Fidelity Simulation In Training Emergency Medicine Physicians In Point Of Care Ultrasonography In Pakistan: A Quasi-Experimental Study, Kiran Azizi, Madiha Ismail, Umaira Aftab, Badar Afzal Khan, Asad Mian
Department of Emergency Medicine
Background: Point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS) is frequently utilized in emergency medicine (EM), with an extended-focused assessment with sonography in trauma (e-FAST) being the most widely used PoCUS modality. This modality is not only time- and cost-efficient, but it is highly accurate in the diagnosis and management of surgical patients in the emergency department, as well as being highly predictive of patient outcomes. Targeted training is essential to ensure a learner's confidence in image acquisition, interpretation, and translation of knowledge to making clinical decisions. High-fidelity simulation offers a uniquely safe and "mistake-forgiving" environment to teach and train medical professionals. The present study …

OBJECTIVE: To study the involvement in research, of final year medical students and fresh graduates of Karachi, Pakistan and to identify the factors influencing their interest in medical research.
METHODS: A cross-sectional, questionnaire based study was conducted in 2007-2008. Five institutes representing the private and public hospitals in the city were selected by cluster sampling. Final year medical students and fresh graduates were included. Descriptive statistics were charted using SPSS v.16 after double data entry.
RESULTS: Out of 378, 186 (49%) participants had journal reading habits due to the requirement of their institution. Mostly, 157 (41%) undergraduates had already participated …
