The purpose of this brief is to provide evidence that can be used to strengthen the family planning program in India, particularly for community-based and facility-based distribution of oral contraceptive pills (OCPs), use of which remains low despite their availability. Understanding women’s interactions with frontline health workers while obtaining the method and during follow-up counseling can help the Government of India improve its National Family Planning Program.
