There is much empirically based research and case studies in the area of grief itself but few that focus on traumatic grief. For the purpose of this study, we will focus on traumatic grief as it applies to the death of a child. Traumatic grief is defined as a grave form of bereavement that comes about when the death of a loved one is caused by an accident, an impaired driver, SIDS, homicide, suicide, or an act of terrorism.
