Detection Of High Levels Of Somatic Cells In Milk On Farms Equippedwith An Automatic Milking System By Decision Trees Technique, Beata Sitkowska, Dariusz Piwczynski, Joanna Aerts, Magdalena Kolenda, Serkan Özkaya

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The purpose of the study was to use decision trees to predict increased levels of somatic cells in cow's milk. The material for the study comprised data collected in 2012-2014 from five farms in Poland equipped with an automatic milking system. Data on 803 Polish Holstein-Friesian cows were collected. In order to predict somatic cell count data mining techniques were used to build a graphical model of a decision tree. This study found that the most important factors to anticipate an elevated somatic cell count in cow's milk are milk conductivity, lactation stage, and lactation (primiparous and multiparous cow groups), …

Identification And Genetic Characterization Of Bovine Parainfluenzavirus Type 3 Genotype C Strain Isolated From Cattle In Western China, Xiaobo Wen, Jinhua Sun, Yao Zhang, Si Cao, Xuhua Ran, Hongbo Ni Jan 2017

Identification And Genetic Characterization Of Bovine Parainfluenzavirus Type 3 Genotype C Strain Isolated From Cattle In Western China, Xiaobo Wen, Jinhua Sun, Yao Zhang, Si Cao, Xuhua Ran, Hongbo Ni

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Bovine parainfluenza virus type 3 (BPIV3) is a leading respiratory pathogen of cattle and is often implicated as a causative pathogen of bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC). Three genotypes (BPIV3a-c) have been tentatively classified based on genetic and phylogenetic analyses. A BPIV3c isolate, designated NX49, was isolated using the Madin-Darby bovine kidney cell culture from cattle in western China, where feedlot cattle with severe respiratory disease symptoms were observed. Hemagglutination assay demonstrated that NX49 had low agglutination activity against guinea pig erythrocytes, whereas SD0835, the first BPIV3c strain reported in China, showed high agglutination activity. Phylogenic analysis indicated that NX49 …

Pathological And Immunohistochemical Evaluation Of Skin And Teat Papillomas In Cattle, Enver Beytut Jan 2017

Pathological And Immunohistochemical Evaluation Of Skin And Teat Papillomas In Cattle, Enver Beytut

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Bovine skin and teat papillomas were examined for immunohistochemical expression of bovine papillomavirus (BPV), proliferating antigens (PCNA, Ki-67), CD3+ T lymphocytes, and some of the type III intermediate filaments. Papillomas showed epidermal hyperplasia, koilocytes, and hyperkeratosis with prominent dermal connective tissue. Immunohistochemistry found the presence of BPV antigens in the nuclei of granulosa cells. PCNA and Ki-67 revealed positive nuclear staining in the dermis and epidermis. Perivascular cuffing in the dermis predominantly consisted of CD3+ T cells. Immunoreaction to vimentin was strong in the connective tissue of the dermis. $\alpha$SMA positivity was mainly in the media of vessels. Smooth muscle …

A Survey Of Ixodid Ticks Feeding On Cattle And Molecular Detectionof Coxiella Burnetii From Ticks In Southeast Iran, Omid Ghashghaei, Saeid Reza Nourollahi Fard, Mohammad Khalili, Hamid Sharifi Jan 2017

A Survey Of Ixodid Ticks Feeding On Cattle And Molecular Detectionof Coxiella Burnetii From Ticks In Southeast Iran, Omid Ghashghaei, Saeid Reza Nourollahi Fard, Mohammad Khalili, Hamid Sharifi

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Ticks are the main hematophagous arthropods and obligatory ectoparasites that are considered a vector of serious pathogens for animals and humans. The aims of the present survey were to assess the prevalence and diversity of ticks in cattle in Southeast Iran and to determine Coxiella burnetii in the ticks. From May 2014 to April 2015, 583 ticks were collected randomly from 257 cattle. Nested trans-PCR was performed to detect C. burnetii. The overall prevalence of hard tick infestation on cattle was 56.8%. In total, seven different species were identified: Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu lato (32.6%), Hyalomma anatolicum (28.8%), Hyalomma excavatum (19%), …

Comparison Of Four Ultrasonographic Approaches For The Diagnosis Ofacquired Reticular Diaphragmatic Hernia In Bovidae, Ashwani Kumar, Vandana Sangwan, Jitender Mohindroo, Narinder Singh Saini, Simrat Sagar Singh Jan 2017

Comparison Of Four Ultrasonographic Approaches For The Diagnosis Ofacquired Reticular Diaphragmatic Hernia In Bovidae, Ashwani Kumar, Vandana Sangwan, Jitender Mohindroo, Narinder Singh Saini, Simrat Sagar Singh

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The aim of this study was to look at four ultrasonographic approaches that diagnose acquired reticular diaphragmatic hernia (RDH) using either left or right caudal thoracic approaches (4th/5th intercostal space) and compare them to those made more cranially (1st/2nd intercostal space). Each sonographic observation was made in 27 unsedated, standing animals (22 buffaloes and 5 cattle) that were surgically confirmed for RDH. Using the right caudal thoracic approach, the herniated reticulum was seen as medial to the thoracic wall at a depth of 3-5 cm and adjacent to the cardiac silhouette. With the left caudal thoracic approach, the herniated reticulum …
