Effect Of Feeding Frequency On Growth, Fecundity, And Meat Quality Of Abant Trout (Salmo Abanticus Tortonese, 1954) Broodstock, Mehmet Zeki̇ Alkan, Nadi̇r Başçinar

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was carried out to investigate the growth data, egg production and changes in the biochemical structure of meat of Abant trout depending on feeding frequency (once a day, twice a day, three times a day, four times a day) in order to contribute to the economy through the private sector. All fish in the groups were planned to be of similar weight at the beginning of the study. Individual fish weights were measured at the beginning of the study, and the average was found to be 224.87 ± 0.69 g. At the end of the study, the weights …

Effects Of Body Composition On Weight-Bearing Staging In Firefighters: Based On Linear, Pls Regression Model Analysis, Hongye Li Feb 2023

Effects Of Body Composition On Weight-Bearing Staging In Firefighters: Based On Linear, Pls Regression Model Analysis, Hongye Li

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Firefighters are often exposed to traumatic events such as high temperatures, heavy fumes, and toxic gases during rescue services. The challenges require firefighters to have a higher level of physical performance compared to a typical person. In urbanized settings, weight-bearing staging is a necessary skill for firefighters. Currently, research has found a positive correlation between firefighter body composition and occupational activity performance. This study aims to examine effects of body composition on the weight-bearing staging performance of firefighters, providing guidance for firefighters' daily training routines. Participants were 47 male firefighters in Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province (age: 25.2 ± 3.9; height: …

Body Composition Of Utah Highway Patrol Officers: No Difference Between Air Displacement Plethysmography And Alternative Tools For Measurement And Prediction., Peter Macgregor, Justin R. Brown, Jacqueline Spoon, L Nathan Thomas

Topics in Exercise Science and Kinesiology

Topics in Exercise Science and Kinesiology Volume 3: Issue 1, Article 6, 2022. Different techniques exist for examining body composition. The purpose of this study was to examine differences in body fat percentage as measured by air displacement plethysmography (ADP), body adiposity index (BAI), bioelectrical impedance (BIA), a body mass index conversion equation (BMID), and skinfolds (SKF). Twenty-one male Utah Highway Patrol Officers participated in this study (age 35.19 ± 10.32 years, 1.79 ± 0.09 m tall, 92.20 ± 14.56 kg in weight, and 105.52 ± 10.01 cm hip circumference). All measurements were taken during a single visit …

Is Body Composition Or Body Mass Index Associated With The Step Count Accuracy Of A Wearable Technology Device?, Jeffrey Montes, Richard D. Tandy, John C. Young, Szu-Ping Lee, James W. Navalta Jun 2022

Is Body Composition Or Body Mass Index Associated With The Step Count Accuracy Of A Wearable Technology Device?, Jeffrey Montes, Richard D. Tandy, John C. Young, Szu-Ping Lee, James W. Navalta

Topics in Exercise Science and Kinesiology

Topics in Exercise Science and Kinesiology Volume 3: Issue 1, Article 5, 2022. A simple way to gauge daily physical activity levels is to use a wearable technology device to count the number of steps taken during the day. However, it is unknown whether these devices return accurate step counts for persons with different body fat percentages or body mass index scores. The purpose was to determine if there is a correlation between either body fat percentages and/or body mass index values and the percent error calculated between a manual step count and values recorded by a wearable technology device. …

Body Composition Assessment In Masters Level Swimmers, Megan E. Larson, Amy Morgan, Jessica Kiss, Mary-Jon Ludy Oct 2021

Body Composition Assessment In Masters Level Swimmers, Megan E. Larson, Amy Morgan, Jessica Kiss, Mary-Jon Ludy

International Journal of Aquatic Research and Education

Body composition of collegiate swimmers has been extensively studied; however, there are limited reports of body composition among Masters swimmers. This study compared the accuracy of air displacement plethysmography (ADP) and bioelectrical impedance (BIA) to the gold standard method of underwater weighing (UWW) in Masters level swimmers. The relationship between percent body fat (%BF) and body mass index (BMI) was also assessed. Recruitment (n = 6 females, 11 males) occurred at two Masters swim clubs. Pearson correlation coefficients revealed no significant differences between ADP, BIA, and UWW (p > 0.05). For both female and male Masters swimmers, the mean %BF …

Effects Of Ulva Rigida And Cystoseira Barbata Meals As A Feed Additive On Growth Performance, Feed Utilization, And Body Composition Of Nile Tilapia, Oreochromis Niloticus, Betül Kut Güroy, Şükran Ci̇ri̇k, Derya Güroy, Feyza Sanver, Ahmet Adem Teki̇nay Jan 2007

Effects Of Ulva Rigida And Cystoseira Barbata Meals As A Feed Additive On Growth Performance, Feed Utilization, And Body Composition Of Nile Tilapia, Oreochromis Niloticus, Betül Kut Güroy, Şükran Ci̇ri̇k, Derya Güroy, Feyza Sanver, Ahmet Adem Teki̇nay

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In a 12-week feeding trial, the effect of 2 algae meals (Ulva rigida or Cystoseira barbata) on feed intake, growth, and nutrient utilization of juvenile Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, was investigated. This was the first attempt to utilize Cystoseira barbata as a feed supplement for Nile tilapia. The fish were fed to apparent satiation with formulated diets supplemented with various levels of Ulva meal (5%, 10%, or 15%) or Cystoseira meal (5%, 10%, or 15%). A diet without algae meal served as a control diet. The highest values for weight gain were for fish fed the 5% Cystoseira diet, control …

Effects Of Feeding Frequency On Growth, Feed Consumption, And Body Composition In Juvenile Turbot (Psetta Maxima Linnaeus, 1758) At Low Temperature, Ali̇ Türker

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Juvenile turbot Psetta maxima (Linnaeus, 1758) (15.23 ± 2.99 g) were fed to satiation with a commercial extruded feed over a 60-day period. Feeding regimens were twice a day (TD), every other day (EOD), and 2-day intervals (TDI). Fish were kept in seawater (18 ppt) at 5-7.5 °C from January 21 to March 23, 2004. Feed conversion rate (FCR) and the protein efficiency ratios (PER) were within the ranges of 1.12-1.14 and 2.26-2.29, respectively. While the maximum relative growth rate (RGR), weight gain, and specific growth rate (SGR) were recorded in the TD group, they were lower in the EOD …
