Ocular Ultrasonographic Evaluation Of Cataractous And Pseudophakic Eyes In Dogs, Shriram Ganesan, Ramani Chandrasekhara Iyer

Ocular B-mode ultrasonography is one of the noninvasive, rapid diagnostic imaging techniques indicated in canine cataract patients to evaluate the posterior segment of the eye. This study was conducted on twelve eyes of dogs with a history of cataract, which were scanned under topical anesthesia. The preoperative and postoperative ultrasonographic biometry, and ultrasonographic features of the lens, intraocular lens (IOL), and posterior segment were recorded. There was a significant difference between pre- and postphacoemulsification mean value of the axial length of globe and anterior chamber depth. Radial carpal bone luxation is rarely encountered in dogs. A literature review did not reveal any case of bilateral radial carpal bone luxation or its treatment. In the current case study, the process and result of the treatment of a dog with bilateral radial carpal bone luxation, brought to the İstanbul University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine?s Department of Surgery is presented. Treatment of luxation was achieved by using screws and cerclage wire. The long-term follow-up of this patient was limited to only 2 months since the dog was not brought back to the clinic.

The First Case Of Traumatic Myiasis Caused By Musca Domestica In A Dog In Konya, Turkey, Bi̇lal Di̇k, Ceylan İlhan, Onur Ceylan, Elgi̇n Orçum Uzunlu

A case of traumatic myiasis caused by the Musca domestica (Linnaeus 1758) housefly was detected in a dog in Konya, Turkey. A 4-year-old Kangal breed dog injured in a traffic accident was brought to the surgery clinic of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Selçuk University in Konya, Turkey for treatment. Several dipterous larvae were collected from the wound of the dog, placed in a petri dish with 70% ethanol, and sent to the parasitology laboratory for identification. Severe Granulomatous Hepatitis Caused By Capillaria Hepatica In A Puppy, Ayli̇n Alasonyalilar Demi̇rer, Ahmet Akkoç, Bayram Şenli̇k, İbrahi̇m Taci̇ Cangül

This report describes the inflammation caused by Capillaria hepatica in the liver of a female stray dog of approximately 2 months old for the first time in Turkey. Histopathological examination revealed severe granulomatous hepatitis with occasional adult nematodes and abundant eggs in the hepatic parenchyma. The present case differs from the other capillariasis cases by the age of the dog and the presence of mature female parasites and severe inflammation.
