Background: Many children who present to the hospital require treatments and procedures in their medical care that can be potentially emotionally traumatic for themselves and their families. Medical professionals caring for these children may also experience emotional trauma symptoms related to their work. A trauma-informed care approach to medical care may help to lessen these negative consequences in both patients and medical professionals. Purpose: The objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a one-hour training on trauma-informed care to nurses at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
