Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the largest cause of premature mortality globally. Annually, about 18 million people die from all CVDs, and about 7.6 million, from coronary heart disease (CHD) [2, 3]. About three quarters of CHD-related mortality occurs in low- and-middle income countries (LMIC) with India having the greatest number of deaths worldwide.
