The results for psychiatric readmissions and 7- and 30-day follow-up care post psychiatric discharge are mixed. Psychiatric readmissions of psychiatric patients are costly. The purpose of this quantitative study was to evaluate the association between 7- and 30-day follow-up care percentages and 30-day readmission rates for an inpatient psychiatric facility (IPF). The Chamorro people are less willing to seek or access care than other ethnic groups. This study was conducted to test how social exclusion, experienced through a culture of healthcare hierarchy, influenced the feelings/attitudes of respiratory therapists (RTs) who are excluded from discussions of end-of-life (EOL) care. Data analysis was conducted using a multivariate analysis of variance to address the research questions. A quantitative nonexperimental survey research design incorporating four evidence-based surveys was used.
