Underrepresentation is a significant issue for Black female nurses to secure nurse leadership positions in healthcare facilities. AbstractPatients diagnosed with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) receiving dialysis experience increased symptom burden and multiple hospitalizations as the disease progresses. Dialysis nurses are charged with involving ESRD patients in decisions regarding their care and advance care planning for end-of- life; however, discussions about end-of-life care do not consistently occur. Providing advance care planning is important to involve the patient in their end-of-life care needs. There is little available research about how home care agencies attempt to address patient safety during the nurse virtual healthcare visit. The purpose of this quantitative study was to evaluate the association between newly licensed registered nurses (NLRN) generational cohorts and NLRN who plan to leave or have left their first nursing position. The research problem focused on the generational cohorts of NLRN and retention. The research questions addressed different generations of NLRN, their intent to stay in their first job, and whether poor orientation was a factor for those who already left their first nursing position. Researchers have predicted that by 2020 the United States will experience a severe shortage of registered nurses. The purpose of this correlation study, using the National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses 2008, was to investigate the relationship between nurse job satisfaction and its effect on nurse retention nationwide.
