Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common sleep-breathing disorder. Undiagnosed OSA is highly prevalent in the population, especially in those with heart failure. OSA and heart failure combined create a negative feedback loop that can lead to poor clinical outcomes. Unfortunately, many cardiac patients are never screened for OSA.

Purpose: The purpose of this project is to improve screening rates for OSA via the STOP-Bang questionnaire and establish an efficient and effective process for referrals to sleep medicine for heart failure patients screening high-risk.

Background: Lung cancer is a significant problem in Kentucky, which ranks fourth in the nation in adults who currently smoke. Early detection, through lung cancer screening, can prevent untimely deaths. Several barriers to screening exist including lack of knowledge and awareness among patients regarding lung cancer screening. Background: Patients transitioning from an inpatient hospital stay to self-care responsibilities post-discharge are at risk for readmission resulting in increased cost and resource utilization. Care transition programs can result in cost avoidance and decreased resource utilization.

PURPOSE: The primary objective of this project was to determine if specific interventions, to include education, rounding, and regular meetings, improved collaboration and communication for nurse/physician dyads working in acute care hospital administrative roles.

METHODS: The study employed a prospective pre-test and post-test comparison of participants’ scores on a validated survey tool. This tool (JeffSATIC) measured perception of collaboration between nurses and physicians. The objective was to evaluate the differences in these scores in participants before and after an intervention.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to assess nurse manager span of control in medical- surgical, intermediate care, and progressive care units at Norton Healthcare and determine correlations between nurse manager span of control and employee engagement.

METHODS: For this descriptive, correlational study, the researcher analyzed data to identify relationships in span of control and employee engagement data for 19 nurse managers leading 23 inpatient care units.
