In 2018, Medicare spending in the United States accounted for 15% of the comprehensive federal budget forecasted to exceed $1.5 trillion by the year 2028. To help manage the spending in this sector, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services implemented Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). There is a need to understand current data as it relates to the correlation between MSSP ACO participants’ costs, quality, and assigned beneficiaries.
