This paper is a literature review of various scientific research papers, exploring the recent scientific advancement in the field of genetic engineering. The research presented is a foundational tool, building awareness on the implications of CRISPR/ Cas9 technology. CRISPR/ Cas9 was first discovered through the study of bacterial immune systems, fighting against viral infections. Manipulation of the Cas9 protein would eventually lead to target specific, gene-altering medicines for human organisms.
