It Governance For Balancing Evolveability And Standardization In Health Information System Implementation In Ethiopian Context, Birkinesh Lagebo, Birkinesh Lagebo, Mark Gaynor Prof., Temtim Assefa Dr
It Governance For Balancing Evolveability And Standardization In Health Information System Implementation In Ethiopian Context, Birkinesh Lagebo, Birkinesh Lagebo, Mark Gaynor Prof., Temtim Assefa Dr
African Conference on Information Systems and Technology
Failing to balance standardization and evolveability in IS design and implementation process results sustainability failure which is common in developing country. IS research provides various IS design solution including layered modular architecture to address both evolveability and standardization simultaneously. However, this design solution requires appropriate IT governance mechanisms which lacks both theoretical and empirical explanation in IS research. The core of this research is understanding IT governance mechanism design that can balance standardization and evolveability in the course of IS design and implementation. The research uses the case of District Health Information System-2 (DHIS-2), layered modular architecture, design and implementation …

A Reinforcement Learning Based Control Approach For Propofol-Induced Burst Suppression, Jason C. Huang, Scott C. Tadler, Brian J. Mickey, Keith Jones
A Reinforcement Learning Based Control Approach For Propofol-Induced Burst Suppression, Jason C. Huang, Scott C. Tadler, Brian J. Mickey, Keith Jones
Utah Space Grant Consortium
High-dose propofol is being investigated for its potential antidepressant effect. Propofol is titrated to induce burst suppression, a specific EEG pattern. However, propofol is difficult to dose due to uncertainty in each patient’s pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD), and the lack of a commercially available monitor of propofol concentration. Clinicians currently infer the proper drug dose after observing the EEG response to the given dose. In this report we share our development of an automated controller to optimally administer propofol-induced burst suppression. We designed a deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) algorithm, which includes two deep neural networks and relates a …
Supercavitation Capabilities On A Submarine, Adam Vu
Supercavitation Capabilities On A Submarine, Adam Vu
Georgia College Student Research Events
Submarines have shaped the way wars have been fought and have been influential in our understanding of fluid dynamics. In the past, supercavitation has been implemented to an idea that has been used to significantly increase the velocity of torpedoes in Chinese and Russian submarines. An example of this is the Russian VA-111 Shkval torpedo. The idea being that if your torpedo is expelling a gas out of the nose cone region, creating a boundary layer between the water and the torpedo, the torpedo will be facing much less resistance relative to when it was traveling in water alone. This …

UNO Student Research and Creative Activity Fair
PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was twofold: (i) develop and test the antimicrobial properties of a polylactic acid- and a polyurethane-based filament, and (ii) use these filaments to manufacture a socket-based prosthesis to verify printability and longevity of the antimicrobial properties. It was hypothesized that the formulation of a novel biocidal copper-based nanocomposite with a biocompatible 3D printing polymer/copolymer can be used for the development of antimicrobial medical devices to mitigate microbial risks during long space flight missions [1, 2, 3].
METHODS: Polylactic Acid-based Filament Development-The development of a polylactic acid-based filament involved several processes, such as fermentation …

National Training Aircraft Symposium (NTAS)
Unmanned aerial systems (UAS) have a range of applications within the field of disaster response. This presentation offers a novel framework of psychosocial considerations designed to advance UAS and disaster management integration. Social scientists highlight important challenges to the effective integration of three primary entities: UAS, the team of teams that responds to disasters, and populations affected by disasters.
The presentation adopts an emerging theoretical perspective on the intersection between UAS capabilities and disaster phases and extends it by bringing necessary attention to social science issues. Specifically, the framework outlines psychosocial considerations and areas of improvement for preparation (training), response …

Iot Devices In The Public Health Sector, Cayla Young
Cybersecurity Undergraduate Research Showcase
In this research, proper attention is drawn to privacy and security concerns with the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) devices in the public health sector. Often, not much attention is given to IoT devices and its vulnerabilities concerning the medical industry. Effects of COVID-19 contact tracing applications are explored through research of various source types. Mitigation techniques for these privacy and security issues is given. Focus is brought to topics outlining the risks associated with genetic testing companies and the vulnerabilities of data collection and data storage. Recommendations are provided to help consumers avoid these risks. Lastly, a comprehensive …
